The Complexe Touristique du Soleil stands in the centre of Creissan, a village in the Hérault near Béziers, Narbonne and Carcassonne. The Rue des Érables leads to a human-sized complex next to the municipal swimming pool, the tennis court and the boules pitch, with the grocer, the baker, restaurants and the newsagent a few steps away. The Canal du Midi is about 7 km away and the Mediterranean a 25-minute drive; from the A9 motorway, leave at Béziers Ouest (exit 36).
The accommodation combines eleven pitches of 80 m², rented with an electric hook-up, two 4-berth mobile homes and a village of ten gîtes grouped around a small square shaded by mulberry trees. These gîtes sleep 4 to 8, on one level or as duplexes, and generally have two bedrooms for about forty square metres; two of them, on the ground floor, are adapted for guests with reduced mobility. The campsite holds the Home Vélo label.
As for opening, both the Canal du Midi tourist office and Hérault Tourisme give opening dates of 1 January to 31 December 2026. The complex’s website also publishes an off-season rate for the gîtes, from €50 a night with a minimum stay of two nights. Off-season, motorhomes are also welcome, with services provided by the town hall. The guinguette and the village pool, however, only operate in summer.
The place suits cyclists on the Voie Verte, families who want to stay away from the crowds of the coast, and travellers passing through who want a quiet stay in a Languedoc village.
Cycling on the Voie Verte to the Canal du Midi, walks, visits to Carcassonne and Minerve within an hour's drive.
Each pitch has an electric hook-up and a water tap nearby. A washroom block has three showers, including one cubicle adapted for guests with reduced mobility, and two toilets; a dishwashing area and a pay washing machine complete the facilities. Wi-Fi is available under an arbour near reception. A shared barbecue is available to campers and gîte guests.
Each gîte has a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, coffee maker and crockery, a living area with table, chairs and television, and a shower room with shower and toilet. Guests need to bring their own sheets, towels and cleaning products. A shared washing machine is available, and reception leaves bread in season.
For cyclists, there is a lockable room, a cleaning hose and a repair kit, and the tourist office also mentions bike and mountain bike hire and luggage storage. Swimming takes place at the neighbouring municipal pool, with a large pool and a paddling pool, open in July and August from 2pm to 7.30pm, Tuesday to Sunday, and included in the price of the stay; aqua gym is held there on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9.30am to 10.15am, and swimming shorts are not allowed. The campsite’s guinguette, reserved for guests, opens in early July, Thursday to Sunday from 6.30pm to 10pm, with cold drinks, chips, tacos, paninis, sharing boards and ice cream. Off-season, the village shops take over.
Around the campsite, the commune provides a children’s playground, a pay-to-use tennis court, a boules pitch, a fitness trail, a city stadium and table tennis tables. The village pool also offers aqua gym sessions in summer.
Creissan is a good starting point for cycling trips: the Voie Verte leads to the Canal du Midi, and walking and mountain bike routes start nearby. There is a riding centre in the area, and you can swim in the Orb valley or go canoeing on the river. Within an hour’s drive, you can visit the nine locks of Fonseranes on the Canal du Midi, the medieval town of Minerve and Carcassonne.
The proximity of Béziers, Narbonne and Carcassonne also makes it easy to vary outings, and the neighbouring vineyards can be visited on cycling or driving stages; the Mediterranean remains a 25-minute drive away.
Campsite and gîtes open all year round, from 1 January to 31 December; guinguette and municipal pool in summer only.
