Seasonal campsite: our checks show it closes for several months a year. Check the opening dates before booking.
Chibau Berria municipal campsite is set in the Erromardie district of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, on the Basque coast, facing the Atlantic Ocean. It is rated 2 stars and gives direct access to Erromardie beach. The town centre is 15 minutes away by bike along the Vélodyssée, or 40 minutes on foot along the coastal path, which passes in front of the entrance.
The site offers 213 unequipped, marked-out pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, ranging from 70 to 90 m². The grounds are 60% partly shaded and 40% sunny, and every pitch can be connected to electricity at 10 or 16 amps. There is no rental accommodation: the campsite is reserved for pitch-based stays, limited to six people and one vehicle per pitch. Pets are accepted under certain conditions.
Opening period: this is a seasonal campsite. For 2026, opening is announced from 25 April to 3 October, with 10 to 20% off-season discounts for long stays. The campsite is therefore closed from early October to the end of April and publishes no rates or reception hours for that period. For any request outside these dates, contact reception on 05 59 26 11 94.
By car, access is only from the north of the town, along the Chemin de Chibau Berria; the campsite warns that some GPS systems show the wrong road.
Three washroom blocks are spread around the site, with showers, toilets and washbasins, including facilities for people with reduced mobility, children’s toilets, two baby showers, a children’s washbasin and a dog shower. Motorhome users have a waste disposal point and a water point. The laundry has a washing machine, coin-operated dryers and thirteen sinks with hot water; tokens can only be bought at reception. Free wifi covers the reception area and the recreation room, with email registration. In July and August, bread and pastries can be bought every morning, and a breakfast option is available. Reception offers tourist information, a book loan service, mail drop-off and a few souvenirs. It is open from 8:15am to 7:45pm in summer, with reduced hours for the rest of the season. The Plage d’Erromardie bus stop, on the Hegobus network, is 1 km away.
On site, a play area for 2 to 6 year olds, two table tennis tables, two petanque courts, a lounge with television and a pay-to-play table football, and a social area with a shared barbecue fill the days. Bats and boules must be brought along. Erromardie beach, with direct access, is supervised from 11am to 7pm in July and August; it attracts surfers, as do Lafitenia, Mayarco and Cénitz further north. At low tide, shore fishing makes it possible to gather shrimps, crabs and velvet crabs, in compliance with the regulations. On foot or by bike, you can reach Biarritz, Ciboure or Hendaye along the coastal path and the Vélodyssée. The coastal path, a former customs officers’ trail, links Biarritz to Hendaye and offers a view over the bay from the Pointe Sainte-Barbe. Bars and restaurants line the beach, and Ainhoa, Espelette, Biarritz and San Sebastián can all be visited from the region.
Seasonal campsite: open from 25 April to 3 October 2026, closed in winter (dates to be confirmed with the campsite).
