Camping de la Touche is at the place called La Touche, in Ligueil (37240), in Indre-et-Loire, in the south of the Loire valley. It occupies a former farm of about five hectares, advertised as twelve acres, in a quiet setting where you can watch birds, fish or simply rest in the sun.
The campsite is run by a family from the north-east of England, who have lived in France since June 2022. They carried out improvements in their very first year, then built an in-ground pool with its terrace, completed in June 2023. On site there are pitches with or without electricity, hardstanding pitches, safari tents to rent, a pool, a snack bar, separate washrooms for ladies and gentlemen with hot water at all times, a washing area, a freezer available to guests, a mini library and wifi.
Opening period: the campsite does not publish full opening dates. The hardstanding pitches and the grass pitches with electricity are announced as available from April to October, and the snack bar serves in the evening during the season months. A covered storage offer for caravans or motorhomes all year round is also available, with a specific rate from October to March. Opening to holidaymakers in winter is not confirmed: for a stay outside the April to October period, you must contact the campsite by email or by phone on 07 89 31 23 07.
The campsite offers an in-ground pool built in 2023, with its terrace, and a snack bar that serves every evening between 7pm and 9pm during the season months. The menu is simple: fish and chips (to order in advance), burger with homemade chips, pizza, loaded nachos, mozzarella sticks, and a children’s menu with nuggets, burger or pizza, as well as ice creams.
The washrooms are separate for ladies and gentlemen and provide hot water at all times. The campsite also has a washing area, a freezer available to guests, a mini library and wifi. Year-round storage for caravans and motorhomes, covered or outdoors, completes the services, which can be useful for owners who leave their vehicle in the Touraine.
The pitches come as a hardstanding pitch with electricity, a grass pitch with or without electricity, and a safari tent to rent. The rates published on the website are 20 euros for a hardstanding pitch with electricity, 34 euros for a grass pitch with electricity, 12 euros per person without electricity and 80 euros for a safari tent. The detail of what each rate includes can be requested from the campsite.
On site, the setting invites relaxation: pool, birdwatching and fishing, on a quiet former farm. The website mentions no entertainment or kids’ club, and does not detail any sports facilities.
The surroundings are better described. Ligueil holds its market on Monday; on the other days of the week, markets follow one another in Tours on Tuesday, in Loches on Wednesday and Saturday, in Manthelan on Thursday and in Amboise on Friday and Sunday. The Loire châteaux are within reach: Villandry, Le Rivau, Chambord, Brézé, Amboise, Chenonceau, Chinon, Saumur and Montrésor, among others. For families, Futuroscope and its forty attractions and shows is the region’s big outing.
Finally, the Loire offers water activities such as kayaking, canoeing and fishing, and the lakes and reservoirs of the valley lend themselves to swimming and walking. Opening hours and days of the sites vary with the season: to be checked before setting out.
Opening dates not published: pitches announced from April to October, to be confirmed with the campsite.
