Overview

Le Soleil du Pibeste is an eco-responsible 4-star campsite at 16 avenue du Lavedan in Agos-Vidalos, in the Hautes-Pyrénées. It lies at the foot of the Pibeste nature reserve, about 8 km from Lourdes and Argelès-Gazost, with the Pont d’Espagne, the Pic du Midi, Gavarnie and the Tourmalet as the main sites to visit. The Dusserm family has run it since it was created in 1989, on former farmland.

The site has 51 pitches, three of them for motorhomes, as well as mobile homes with two or three bedrooms, chalets built from logs imported from Finland and unusual accommodation such as the starry dome. The units have a terrace facing the mountains, with bed linen and towels provided, and a mobile home adapted for people with reduced mobility holds the Tourisme et Handicap label.

The place’s speciality is wellbeing: a Japanese garden, a dedicated space, tai chi, qigong and meditation classes, massages, sound baths, infrared sauna and yoga workshops. The campsite also grows a permaculture garden whose vegetables supply the kitchen.

Opening period: the official website states “open all year round” and offers overnight stays all year, for example one night in a chalet from €95 for two people. Off-season, the restaurant is closed, but the campsite remains accessible, with reception open from 8am to 6pm, and wellness activities by registration.

The services are designed for a peaceful stay. Wifi is free throughout the site, bed linen and towels are included in rentals, and end-of-stay cleaning is included for some units. Pets are allowed in all accommodation for €6 per night. A small convenience shop sells Biocoop products, and a click-and-collect online shop lets you book services and products before arrival.

The restaurant La Hournère, with home cooking, pizzas and local produce, and the bar, which serves beers from four local organic breweries, only operate in the summer season, from late June to September. Off-season, the catering service is closed, and the website suggests using the restaurants and shops a few minutes away in the valley.

The infinity pool, at the back of the campsite, offers a panorama of the Pibeste. Its water is heated using heat from the air, but it is only open from June to September and is not accessible to people with reduced mobility. The wellness services, on the other hand, are announced all year round: massages, water treatments, sound baths and a Japanese sauna with infrared heat, in sessions of 30 minutes at most. A bike room with a repair workshop and a meeting room complete the offer for groups.

The campsite’s activities are linked to wellbeing and Pyrenean culture. Tai chi and qigong classes, meditation and forest therapy sessions, and permaculture gardening workshops are offered all year round by registration. In summer, aquabike, that is cycling in the water, is added to the programme from June to September. Discovery hikes in the Pibeste reserve are organised on Mondays in partnership with the reserve.

The campsite also runs workshops and retreats: yoga, meditation, qigong and tai chi, over a weekend or several days. The 2026 calendar notably lists an introductory handpan and qigong workshop on 19 April, a wellness weekend from 4 to 6 October and a day of qigong and tai chi on 18 October. For children, a large play area and a city-stade (multisport court) are next to the restaurant.

Around the campsite, mountain biking is very popular, with rides for the whole family and more athletic routes. Hikes towards the national park, the Brèche de Roland or lakes accessible to families, the Pic du Midi, Gavarnie, the Pont d’Espagne and the sanctuary of Lourdes are among the outings mentioned by the team.
