La Hooghe Moote is a residential leisure park in Ghyvelde, in the hamlet of Uxem, on the route d’Uxem, in maritime Flanders. The seaside resort of Bray-Dunes is only 3 km away, the beach less than 5 km, and both Dunkerque and the Belgian border are nearby. The park covers about 7.6 hectares around a farm, with 52 landscaped pitches of 200 m² and five fishing ponds spread over two hectares.
The nature of the place needs to be understood first: part of the site is reserved for owners, who pay an annual fee for their pitch (residential area). Holidaymakers, for their part, stay in rental mobile homes in several ranges (Confort, Confort+, Premium, Écolodge) with two to four bedrooms. The website also presents unusual accommodation.
The park says it is open all year round, and this does apply to the rentals: the 2026 mobile home rates distinguish a high season, from 1 April to 31 October, and a low season, from 1 November to 31 March, with prices by the week, for the weekend and for school holidays. The mobile homes are fitted with heating, which makes a stay in the depths of winter possible. No particular audience is targeted in the off-season: people come here for a weekend in the country or a break on the way to the coast.
The park shares its reception with the Hooghe Moote campsite right next door, as well as its inn, bar and function room.
Walks in Bray-Dunes, visits to Bergues or Dunkerque; the neighbouring farm inn announces a Valentine's Day menu and a Christmas meal.
Services rely on the reception shared with the neighbouring campsite, open Monday to Sunday from 9am to 12pm and from 2pm to 7pm. Guests of the park can use the waiting car park near the office, the bar and restaurant of the inn, and a large meeting and entertainment area. A reception room, an evening refreshment bar and free wifi complete the picture. The website also highlights access for visitors with reduced mobility.
The farm inn serves home-made regional cooking from Friday evening to Sunday lunchtime, close to the ponds. The park announces neither a shop nor a swimming pool: for a swim, you head to Bray-Dunes beach.
Each mobile home comes with crockery, cutlery, saucepans, a coffee maker, a microwave, a fridge, a television, a table with chairs, garden furniture, sun loungers, a parasol, a barbecue and, above all for the colder months, heating. The sleeping arrangements include bed bases, mattresses, blankets and pillows; sheets are not provided, but disposable sheets are sold for ten euros. Also listed are a high chair, a changing mat, an iron with ironing board and two hairdryers. The website does not say which bar and refreshment services run in winter.
On site, fishing is the star activity: five ponds covering two hectares where you can catch small or large salmon trout, with tables, benches and barbecues around the water. The park also has a pétanque court, a children’s play area, a table tennis table and an activity room where entertainment and dance evenings are held.
The surroundings look towards the sea and Flanders. Bray-Dunes beach is a few minutes away by car, with water sports (kayaking, paddleboarding, windsurfing) a short distance away. The Plopsaland theme park is a quarter of an hour away, Dunkerque and Belgium are close, and Bergues, known for being the setting of the film Welcome to the Sticks, is twenty minutes by car. The website also mentions many walks and outdoor activities.
In the off-season, you can stroll in Bray-Dunes, visit Bergues or Dunkerque, or simply enjoy the calm of the countryside. The neighbouring farm inn announces a Valentine’s Day menu and a Christmas meal on its website.
