Les Myrtilles covers two wooded hectares in Moustajon, at the entrance to Bagnères-de-Luchon, in the Luchon valley, in Haute-Garonne. Mountains surround the site, with an open view of Superbagnères, the valley’s ski resort. The three-star campsite has been run for more than ten years by Laurent and Sylvie, who aim for a family atmosphere.
There are about a hundred pitches marked out by vegetation, for tents, caravans and motorhomes, with 6 or 10 amp hook-ups. On the rental side, the choice ranges from mobile homes sleeping two to six to canvas bungalows and tithomes, not forgetting a 24-bed group gîte on the site, approved by Jeunesse et Sport.
The campsite advertises year-round opening, with a single break: the closure runs from 15 November to 15 December. The rest of the winter, reception keeps the same daily hours, except on Sunday afternoons in low season. Note, however, that the tithomes and canvas bungalows are neither heated nor connected to water, and only one of the two washroom blocks is heated in winter, mainly during school holidays.
Off-season, the place mainly welcomes spa guests visiting the Luchon thermal baths, skiers and walkers. A three-week package is published for spa treatments, from 27 August to 15 November.
Spa treatments and the Vaporarium in Luchon, skiing and snowshoeing at Superbagnères, Luchon market on Wednesdays and Saturdays from November to March.
The facilities focus on practical comfort. Two washroom blocks with individual cabins have hot water, one of them spacious and heated in winter. There is a baby cabin with a bath and changing table, a cabin for people with reduced mobility, washing machines, a dryer and an ironing board, with tokens available from reception. The washrooms are cleaned twice a day. A service area allows motorhomes to empty their waste and fill their water tank.
The mobile homes have a fitted kitchen with fridge, microwave, hob and coffee maker, a living room with television, a bathroom with WC and a furnished terrace. Blankets and pillows are provided. A charcoal barbecue can be borrowed or shared.
The heated pool measuring 10 by 17 metres, 1.15 to 1.75 m deep and fitted with an access ramp, is free for guests but only from mid-June to September; swimming is unsupervised and swimwear is compulsory. The snack bar, with its large terrace, serves pizzas, salads, waffles and ice creams in July and August, then adapts to its customers in low season. The small shop offers basics and local products, with bread and pastries delivered every morning from June to September. You can also rent a raclette or fondue set for winter evenings.
The campsite runs its programme mainly in summer: morning sessions for children aged 6 to 11 led by an entertainer with a BAFA qualification, table tennis, volleyball, basketball and pétanque tournaments in the afternoon, water games and water polo, then bingo, karaoke, dance evenings or quizzes in the evening. A play area with a slide and swings, a volleyball court, a pétanque court and a room with table football and billiards complete the offer. A welcome drink brings holidaymakers together on Saturday evenings in high season.
Around Luchon, more than 250 km of waymarked trails allow walking all year round. Active visitors go rafting, canyoning, climbing, paragliding, mountain biking, horse riding or caving, and you can visit the caves, museums and Romanesque churches of the Larboust valley.
In winter, Superbagnères offers skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing. Luchon remains a spa town: the Vaporarium, presented as a natural steam bath unique in Europe, the massages, the aquagym and the gym at the Thermes are aimed at spa guests. The Luchon market takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays from November to March, every day from April to October, and the town organises an ice rink and torchlit descents.
Open all year round, except from 15 November to 15 December; pool from mid-June to September.
