Camping des Acacias is at 11 rue Berthe Morisot, in La Ville-aux-Dames, a commune in Indre-et-Loire adjoining Tours. Rated three stars, it lies in the Vallée des Rois (Valley of the Kings), a stone’s throw from the Loire à Vélo cycle route, on the wine route. From Tours, you can reach it by car along the Loire embankment (D751, towards Amboise), by bus on the Fil Bleu network, or by bike following the route signs.
The offer includes spacious, shaded pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, including pitches reserved for cycle tourists, as well as a range of cottages: one bedroom (with or without air conditioning), two bedrooms, three bedrooms in standard or premium version, four bedrooms in standard or premium version, and a cottage adapted for people with reduced mobility. Bed and bath linen is provided in the rentals at no extra charge.
Opening period: the campsite states in its FAQ that it is open all year round, without specifying closing dates. Reception is announced every day from 9am to 10pm. Cottages are booked online; for pitches, it is best to confirm the winter conditions (washrooms, hook-ups) with the campsite on 02 47 44 08 16.
The campsite is part of a group that also includes the Domaine des Acacias, for group bookings, and the Taverne de la Métairie, a restaurant run by the same operator.
Visit to Tours and the Place Plumereau, châteaux of Amboise, Chenonceau and Villandry, bike rides along the Loire.
The campsite provides modern washrooms for the pitch area and a private outdoor car park. Rentals come with full bed linen (sheets, duvet covers, pillowcases) and a set of bath towels per person, which saves weighing down the luggage and doing laundry at the end of the stay.
A bike package at 15 euros is offered from 9am to 7pm to explore the banks of the Loire at your own pace, and bike hire is booked online. Cycle tourists following the Loire à Vélo have dedicated stopover pitches, designed for resting before heading on to the châteaux.
Catering is provided by the Taverne de la Métairie, an establishment presented as one of the restaurants of the same group. No pool is mentioned on the official website.
Dogs are accepted, on a lead, on the pitches and in some rentals; their up-to-date vaccination record must be brought.
The appeal of the place lies in its position between Tours and the great sites of the Loire. The old town of Tours and the Place Plumereau are only a few kilometres away. Amboise, Chenonceau and Villandry can be reached quickly by car or bike, and the campsite presents itself as a starting point for visiting the châteaux of the valley.
On site and nearby, cycling is the main activity: the Loire à Vélo passes right nearby, and the bike package lets you spend the day by the river. Walks along the Loire banks and canoeing complete the programme, as do tastings in the vineyards of Montlouis and Vouvray, neighbours of the commune.
The website mentions neither on-site entertainment nor a kids’ club. Off-season, visits to Tours and the châteaux remain possible, but the opening hours of each site vary: it is best to check them before setting out.
