Le Cap Blanc is a small three-star campsite in Leucate-Plage, in the Aude, on Chemin du Grau. It sits on the Leucate peninsula, a narrow strip of land squeezed between the coastal lagoon and the Mediterranean, about 50 metres from a fine sandy beach. The centre of the resort and its shops are 200 metres away, Narbonne is 35 km to the north and Perpignan-Rivesaltes, the nearest airport, is 25 km away.
There are no bare pitches here: the offer is limited to eleven mobile homes on a partly shaded site, spread across five options, with two to three bedrooms and one to six beds. One model is specially adapted for guests with reduced mobility, with an access ramp and an equipped shower. All have reversible air conditioning, an LCD screen, a semi-covered terrace, a private barbecue and a private parking space.
The campsite presents itself as open all year round, from 1 January to 31 December, as confirmed by the listings of the Aude tourist office and the Occitanie region. The accommodation can therefore be booked in winter, with a reception desk open every day from 8am to 7pm without a break. The reversible air conditioning also provides heating, which makes an off-season stay possible for anyone who wants the sea out of season and a base for exploring the Corbières and Cathar Country.
Access is via the A9 motorway, exit 40, then the RD 627; by train, get off at Leucate station, with a shuttle in high season or a taxi.
Kitesurfing and windsurfing at the peninsula's spots, a visit to Cathar Country, Carcassonne and the Sigean African reserve.
The campsite remains small and concentrates its services on the accommodation. The eleven mobile homes are equipped with a microwave and you choose your option according to the number of beds: a two-bedroom model for one to three guests, adapted for reduced mobility; a three-bedroom “Family” for six people; a three-bedroom “Tout confort”; a “Vue imprenable” model with a balcony, and a two-bedroom Trigano mobile home for four people. Weekly rates start at €350 depending on the option, excluding tourist tax.
The site offers Wi-Fi, a laundry, a closed car park, a lounge with television, a meeting room, a children’s play area and a boules court. There is night-time surveillance and access remains possible at any hour. A cleaning service can be requested, and pets are accepted.
Off-season, everything related to the accommodation works: reversible air conditioning for heating, microwave, private parking, reception every day from 8am to 7pm. The campsite has no swimming pool; swimming is done on the sandy beach 50 metres away, mostly in summer. The shops of Leucate-Plage, about 200 metres away, complete the offer for groceries and meals. The team welcomes guests in French, English and Spanish, and tourist listings also mention Catalan.
The Leucate peninsula is famous for its wind: nine kitesurfing and windsurfing spots are listed here, including the site of the Mondial du Vent, the big annual board-sports event. The campsite is close to several of them, and the local activity guide also includes horse riding, tennis, water sports and fishing.
For children, there is a play area on site, and the Aqualand water park is in the area, as are the casino and the oyster farming in the lagoon. The excursion programme and information on outings are available at reception.
The hinterland provides plenty to fill an off-season stay: Cathar Country and its fortresses, the city of Carcassonne, the Corbières and their wines, the Tautavel museum devoted to prehistory, the Sigean African reserve. The Spanish border is about sixty kilometres away. On site, you walk on the beach and play boules.
