Las Closas is in Err, a small mountain village in the Cerdagne, at 1,350 m altitude, within the Pyrénées catalanes Regional Natural Park. The campsite is rated 3 stars and holds the Destination d’Excellence mention as well as the Clef Verte label. It covers about 2 hectares, with 110 shaded pitches of 100 m² that can be connected to electricity, and boasts 300 days of sunshine a year. Seven ski resorts, including Font-Romeu, are a few minutes away, with Spain and Andorra close by.
For those who prefer not to sleep under canvas, three mobile homes of 27, 29 and 31 m² sleep 2 to 7 people, with heating in every room, a fitted kitchen, bathroom and terrace. The CocoSweet units, accommodation for 2 or 4 people halfway between a tent and a mobile home, have a kitchen and a bed but no washroom. The village shops, a bakery, a butcher’s deli and a grocery, are at the campsite exit.
The campsite presents itself as open all year round, summer and winter, and publishes a six-month winter package for pitches. The tourist office specifies, however, that from November to April reception is limited to weekends and school holidays. No annual closure is announced. The washrooms are heated in winter, which makes a stay at this altitude bearable, and reception is open from 8am to 12.30pm and from 2pm to 7pm.
Skiing at seven resorts including Font-Romeu, cross-country skiing in the Capcir, snowshoeing, hot-water baths at Dorres, Llo and Saint-Thomas open all year round.
The range of services is short, but it covers the essentials. The washrooms are heated in winter, pitches have an electrical socket of 3, 6 or 10 amps, and a leisure room serves as a refuge in bad weather. A table tennis room and a children’s play area complete the site. A map of the campsite in the Cerdagne is published on the website so that pitches can be chosen before arrival.
The mobile homes come with crockery, microwave, refrigerator and gas hob, garden furniture and a parasol; heating is provided in every room, which matters for a snow holiday. The CocoSweet units are rented for 2 people or 4 people, with a 140 cm bed, blackout curtains and a kitchenette, but without a shower or toilet: guests therefore use the shared washrooms.
At the campsite exit you will find the shops of Err, a swimming pool, a large play area and a picnic area. The village water park, with a pool, slides, wave pool and jacuzzi, is used mainly in summer. There is no restaurant at the campsite. Pitches and the winter package can be booked by telephone only.
The Cerdagne offers a choice of activities that runs all year. In summer, you can visit the village water park, walk or mountain bike in the valleys and towards nearby peaks of almost 3,000 m, including the Eyne valley, and try your hand at via ferrata, paragliding, horse riding, climbing, canyoning, golf or fishing. Children have a tree-top adventure course and a play area nearby.
In winter, seven Neiges Catalanes resorts share downhill skiing and snowboarding, including Font-Romeu. The Espace Nordique du Capcir offers more than 190 km of cross-country ski trails, ski touring and snowshoeing are possible, and even a husky sled ride is mentioned. After skiing, the hot-water baths at Dorres, Llo and Saint-Thomas stay open all year round.
On the cultural side, you can visit Romanesque churches, caves, solar furnaces, the animal park and the citadels of Mont-Louis and Villefranche-de-Conflent, and ride the Train Jaune. Events punctuate the season: the Hix and Llívia festivals, Xicolatada, sheepdog competitions and the aplec de sardanes.
Open all year round according to the campsite; from November to April, weekends and school holidays only according to the tourist office. No annual closure announced.
