Lac Saint Georges is a small holiday village with a campsite in Sarrecave, in the Haute-Garonne department, at 1 route de la Seygouade. The site sits beside a lake with views of the Pyrenees, 13 km from Boulogne-sur-Gesse, 22.5 km from Montréjeau station and 96 km from Toulouse-Blagnac airport. Toulouse, Tarbes and Spain are each about an hour’s drive away, at the crossroads of the Gers and the Hautes-Pyrénées.
The place remains small in scale: there are about ten 58 m² chalets for 2 to 7 people, 50 m² gîtes with an 8 m² terrace and two bedrooms, a tiny house for four people and about ten pitches of roughly 115 m² with electric hook-up. It was taken over in 2019 by a couple and their two children from Charente-Maritime, who stand for nature-friendly tourism.
As for opening dates, several sources say the village and campsite are open all year round, winter stays included: a booking platform lists its accommodation as open all year, with arrival from 4pm to 7pm and departure before 10am. No closing dates are published. However, the exact opening dates of the pool and the heating in the accommodation are not detailed: it is best to ask before booking in winter.
The setting suits families, walkers, horse riders and anyone looking for the calm of the Gascon countryside.
Hiking from the campsite, a visit to Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges, thermal baths and the Bétharram site in the region.
On site, an outdoor pool measuring 10 m by 15 m is the centrepiece in summer, with a children’s play area equipped with swings, a slide and a trampoline. The neighbouring lake is suitable for fishing and pedalo trips. The village also has a leisure area with a bar, a snack point and ice cream, as well as communal barbecues for guests.
Two washroom blocks with showers and toilets serve the pitches, and washing machines and tumble dryers are available to guests. The gîtes have a kitchenette with ceramic hob, fridge, coffee maker, kettle and toaster, a living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom with WC fitted with a fan heater. Each gîte has its own parking space and a private green area of about 100 m². The chalets have two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a partly covered terrace.
The campsite does not say whether the washrooms are heated or whether the chalets are heated in winter. Shops and restaurants are 13 km away, in Boulogne-sur-Gesse, so it is worth planning your shopping. A half-board package from €390 a week is mentioned on a tourist information sheet.
The site offers a tennis court, a football and volleyball pitch, table tennis tables, a table football and a pétanque court. According to the booking platform, guests can also play badminton or practise yoga. The lake invites fishing and pedalo rides, and a riding centre nearby offers horse rides.
Hiking is one of the main activities: trails start about 1 km from the campsite, in neighbouring Gascony and the Pyrenean foothills. The nearest golf course is 20 km away. The holiday village also mentions cycling trips, noting that a bike hire firm is about 25 km away.
Places to visit include Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges, a former Roman city that became a stage on the Way of St James and is listed among the most beautiful villages in France, the region’s thermal baths and the Bétharram site. Off-season, the offer boils down to hiking and these visits: water activities and the play area are mostly for summer, and the campsite does not advertise any entertainment in winter.
Open all year round (rental accommodation and pitches), with no annual closure published.
