Seasonal campsite: our checks show it closes for several months a year. Check the opening dates before booking.
La Corconne is a small nature campsite beside a river, in the Cévennes, at the place called La Corconne, route de Valleraugue (RD 986, kilometre 55), in Saint-André-de-Majencoules, in the Gard. The site lies within the Cévennes National Park, close to Sumène and Mont Aigoual, west of Alès and north of Montpellier. The owners follow an ecological approach: drinkable spring water from the tap, reed-bed purification, compost, green electricity and lights switched off at night for the starry sky.
The site has 35 pitches spread over about 2 hectares: bare pitches or with a pergola, pitches reserved for vans and motorhomes at the entrance, and “grand confort” pitches with a private sanitary cabin and camping kitchen. The campsite is pedestrian, with trolleys to carry luggage. For rentals, there are eight wooden chalets, two unusual cabins and two gîtes, for 2 to 12 people.
Opening period: it is a seasonal campsite. According to the news published by the managers, it reopens on 1 April 2026 and welcomes guests until 30 October 2026, on the pitches as well as in the accommodation. It is therefore closed from November to the end of March. The website mentions accommodation “in all seasons”, but the period announced for 2026 ends at the end of October: for a stay outside these dates, you need to contact the campsite on 04 67 82 46 82.
In the heart of the campsite, the guinguette “Sous la Tonnelle” serves homemade seasonal food, with pizzas made from hand-kneaded dough and cooked in a wood-fired oven. It is open every weekend from May and every day from July. The bare pitches benefit from the shade of trees or a pergola, with a wooden table and benches, and the equipped pitches add electricity, hot water, shower, washbasin, toilets and a kitchen corner with a fridge and two burners.
The chalets, for 4 to 12 people, have a fitted kitchen, a bathroom and a terrace; they have no television, by choice, and some offer wifi, with 4G working on the site. The Merisier gîte, for two people, has a wood stove and a private spa under the trees, and the Mazet gîte sleeps eight. The accommodation can host groups of up to 65 people for a seminar, a wedding or a workshop.
The river water is used for swimming in summer, and there is no swimming pool. No service is announced outside the opening period.
On site, life revolves around the river, where you can swim and watch tree frogs and herons, around pétanque, hammocks and evening gatherings. From spring to autumn, the guinguette hosts local artists, and music, theatre or games evenings are organised there.
The campsite lies at the crossroads of several major sites of Occitanie. The Cirque de Navacelles and the Gorges de l’Hérault can be reached by car, as can the Bambouseraie des Cévennes in Anduze, the Nîmes arena or, on the Mediterranean coast, the Pointe de l’Espiguette. Mont Aigoual, the Causses and the neighbouring Cévennes villages offer walks in a national park.
To reach the campsite without a car, the line 608 coach from Montpellier stops at Pont d’Hérault, about 3 kilometres away, and the managers offer the last kilometre to travellers arriving by train or bus, by reservation one week in advance. These activities and visits are mainly worth considering during the season, from April to October.
From 1 April to 30 October 2026, closed from November to the end of March.
