La Chèvrerie des Felges is a farm campsite in Cassagnas, in Lozère, at about 900 m above sea level, in the heart of the Cévennes National Park, between Florac and Alès. The accommodation sits in the shade of century-old chestnut trees, on a 75-hectare farm that produces goat’s milk, made into cheese using organic farming methods.
Since January 1, 2026, the place has been taken over by Alexiane and Grégory, who offer one yurt and two wooden caravans, for rent by the week or for a short stay. The yurts are insulated with wool felt and heated (electric heating and wood-burning stove), each with at least 300 m² of land. A fully equipped communal room of 45 m² and the heated washroom block are less than 100 m away. The site is on the Stevenson Trail, with overnight stays possible for hikers.
Opening period: this is seasonal accommodation. The yurts and wooden caravans are open from April 15 to October 15 according to the contact page, while the home page gives the end of the season as October 5. The place is closed in winter and August is announced as fully booked. To clarify the closing dates or to request a stay outside the season, it is best to send a message or text to 07 81 04 40 57.
The owners stress that their main activity remains farming rather than tourism, and that requests are made by email or text.
The yurts have electricity and are less than 100 m from the communal room and the heated washroom block, which has 3 toilets and 3 showers; compost toilets are also nearby. The 45 m² room has an equipped kitchen with fridges, ovens, hobs and crockery. A 16 m² kota grill house with a central barbecue, a wood-fired oven under cover, a summer kitchen and a wood-fired kota sauna for 6 complete the facilities, along with board games, a library, IGN maps and a baby kit (cot, high chair, hiking baby carrier) lent free of charge.
Linen is not always provided: sheets and towels can be rented for a few euros, and the owners ask guests to bring sleeping bags and towels. Meals are prepared on site and half board is not available for the moment. Card payments are not accepted: cheque or cash.
On site, a course of 15 games in the trees, secured with nets, is freely accessible under parental supervision, and you can meet the goats. Sky maps are lent out: the Cévennes National Park is an international dark sky reserve.
The farm is the starting point for several landscapes: the Tarn and Jonte gorges, the Causse Méjean and Causse Sauveterre, Mont Lozère and Mont Aigoual, and the Cévennes valleys. The website mentions boat trips on the Tarn, river swimming, the Vallon du Villaret, the weather station at Mont Aigoual, the Aven Armand, the Point Sublime, the via ferrata at Florac, canyoning, caving, mountain biking and canoeing.
Seasonal campsite: yurts and wooden caravans open from April 15 to October 15 (end of season given as October 5 on another page, to be confirmed with the establishment), closed in winter.
