The Ferme de la Mule campsite is at 1 chemin de la Mule in Saint-Sauveur, a village in Haute-Garonne about 17 km from Toulouse and 15 km from Villemur-sur-Tarn, in the Frontonnais community of communes. Rated one star since 2012, it remains modest in size, with 32 individual shaded pitches, including large plots intended for mobile homes and caravans.
The site is not fenced during the day, but it is closed at night and protected by an electric fence, a security feature highlighted by the tourist offices. Pets are accepted, except for dogs in dangerous categories, and payment at reception is by cash or cheque. Guests are welcomed in French, English and Spanish.
Opening period: the listings from the Haute-Garonne tourist office and the Occitanie region announce opening from 1 January to 31 December 2026, with no break. Nothing points to a winter closure, but these listings do not detail the services available in winter: it is best to call the campsite on 05 62 79 09 06 or 06 81 50 38 63 before arriving off-season.
Its location about twenty kilometres from Toulouse suits stays near the city: Toulouse-Blagnac airport is about 20 km away and the train station about 15 km.
Fronton market on Thursday, visits to wine estates in the Frontonnais, walks in the Bouconne forest.
The facilities are deliberately simple. The pitches have water and electricity hook-ups as well as a waste water disposal point, and the campsite reserves spaces for motorhomes. The large plots can take tents, caravans or privately owned mobile homes.
For children there is a playground on site, along with a bike track. The regional listing also mentions guided tours, without further detail: you need to ask the manager what they cover. Groups are accepted.
The published information mentions no swimming pool, restaurant, shop or laundry on site. For shopping, you need to go to the village of Saint-Sauveur or to neighbouring towns such as Fronton, whose market is held on Thursday, or Villemur-sur-Tarn, which has its market on Saturday and Sunday.
For getting around without a car, a bus stop is a few minutes’ walk from the campsite and serves Toulouse on regional lines 59 and 60. The site is closed at night, and the electric fence adds to this security.
On site, the offer is limited to the playground and the bike track: the campsite is above all a base for exploring the Toulouse area rather than an entertainment venue. No leisure programme is advertised.
The Frontonnais, which Saint-Sauveur is part of, is known for its Fronton vineyards: visiting wine estates and the Thursday market in Fronton, about ten kilometres away, make an easy outing. Villemur-sur-Tarn, 15 km away, has its weekend markets.
Walkers can head to the Bouconne forest, about 19 km away, which offers extensive wooded trails for walking and cycling. Toulouse, 17 km by road or by regional bus lines, makes for a day in the city with its museums, Garonne riverbanks and old town.
As the campsite advertises opening over twelve months, these outings can be enjoyed in any season, with spring and autumn preferable for forest walks. For arrangements in winter, the best thing is to phone before setting off.
