The Cavée Verte municipal campsite is in Ault, on the Somme coast, in the Ault-Onival and Bois de Cise area, not far from Normandy. It presents itself as a quiet site away from the bustle of the big seaside resorts, with sandy beaches nearby and, in the surrounding area, the Ault cliffs and the Bois de Cise.
The site has 101 pitches, including 61 leisure pitches and 40 touring pitches, plus 12 motorhome pitches. The plots, marked out by hedges, measure 80 to 100 m² and are semi-shaded or sunny. The leisure pitches are offered year-round under contract, and the mobile homes placed on them give the site a partly residential character: the places for passing holidaymakers are therefore the touring pitches and the motorhome area. The campsite accepts pets and has facilities for guests with reduced mobility.
Opening period: this is a seasonal campsite, open from April 1 to November 15, and therefore closed to holidaymakers from mid-November to the end of March. The annual contracts concern occupants of leisure pitches, not tourist accommodation. To book or ask for information, the manager answers from 7am to 11pm on 03 22 26 80 88.
The facilities are those of a simple municipal campsite. Pitches can be fitted with a 10-amp electricity point, rented by the day or under an annual contract, with a water supply. For motorhomes, the area offers a water supply, emptying and waste disposal, with sunny pitches that can be connected to electricity.
Washrooms and water points are spread around the site. The washroom block has a baby changing table, a laundry works with tokens for the washing machine and dryer, and a baby high chair can be lent. The campsite is equipped to welcome guests with reduced mobility and accepts pets.
A common room is available. No restaurant, shop or swimming pool is mentioned on the site: shopping and meals are taken care of in Ault or in neighbouring towns.
On site there is a pétanque court, several playgrounds for younger children and a common room. The atmosphere is that of a quiet campsite, geared towards relaxation.
Around Ault, the campsite highlights walks on the cliffs and in the Bois de Cise, the long sandy beaches, the sunsets and the many cycle paths. Further afield in the Baie de Somme, you can take the Baie de Somme railway, walk across the bay, watch seals, try sand yachting or visit the Parc du Marquenterre and the Maison de la Baie de Somme.
The season is marked by local events from June to September in Ault-Onival and the Bois de Cise: dance, fireworks, sea festival, mussel fair, the Harengade festival or concerts. Saint-Valery-sur-Somme hosts the Fêtes Guillaume and has an old quarter, the Courtgain, as well as the Guillaume towers.
