Camping Municipal

The municipal campsite of Sainte-Sévère-sur-Indre, also called L’Étape du Facteur, is located on Avenue d’Auvergne, right in the centre of the village, in the Indre. It is run by the commune and has eight shaded pitches for tents, in a family-friendly, leafy setting. A children’s play area and a table tennis table are available, as well as a service point for motorhomes, water and electrical hook-ups and showers. Pets are accepted and the campsite is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Sainte-Sévère is the village where Jacques Tati filmed “Jour de fête”: a house devoted to the filmmaker, with an exhibition, can be visited on site.

Opening period: the campsite is seasonal. The commune announces opening from 20 April to 31 October, while the Pays George Sand tourist office states opening from 3 April to 31 October 2026. It is closed from November to early April and therefore does not receive holidaymakers in winter. To find out the exact opening date, call the town hall on 02 54 30 50 28.

The 2026 rate shown is €4.90 per night for a basic pitch, or €14.70 for two adults with a vehicle and a tent or caravan. The unusual accommodation “Étape du facteur” is offered at €25.50 per night.

The campsite offers water hook-ups, electrical hook-ups and showers, as well as a service point for motorhomes. The pitches are shaded.

It is in the heart of the village: shops and services are within walking distance. A tourist tax of €0.20 per adult is added to the rate.

On site, children have a play area and a table tennis table. In the village, the “Jour de fête” house presents an exhibition devoted to Jacques Tati.

Sainte-Sévère-sur-Indre lies in the Pays George Sand, in the Boischaut Sud: a hedged countryside area well suited to walks and bike rides.
