Overview

Camping du Tuillié is in Cambiac, a small commune in the Lauragais, in Haute-Garonne. Toulouse is about thirty kilometres away, Revel about twenty and Toulouse-Blagnac airport about 40 km. The site overlooks the countryside at an altitude of 230 m, with views towards the Pyrenees, and runs alongside a private fishing lake. The Château de Cambiac is barely 600 m away and Lac de Sainte-Marie less than 1.5 km.

It is a small family-run site, rated one star, with sixteen pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, with or without hook-up, a studio caravan and six chalets: five for five people and one for six. The owners welcome guests themselves, and online reviews praise the cleanliness of the washrooms and the peace and quiet.

As for opening, the campsite welcomes guests from 1 January to 31 December, with no annual closure. The chalets, fitted with heating and air conditioning, can therefore be rented in every season, with published off-season rates (€65 a night, €110 a weekend, €290 a week). The pitches for tents and caravans are open from 1 April to 31 October inclusive; the rest of the year, only the chalets are available.

This formula suits weekend breaks, stopovers on the road and quiet stays in autumn or winter, close to Toulouse as well as to the villages of the Lauragais.

Comfort remains simple, with no kids’ clubs or organised entertainment, but the facilities cover the essentials. The washrooms are rated very clean by campers, who also note the presence of soap and paper. A self-service laundry offers a free washing machine, and household linen can be hired from €3 on reservation. For the chalets, a €60 cleaning package saves the chore at the end of the stay.

Each chalet has a main bedroom, a children’s room with bunk beds, a living room with a bench seat, a fitted kitchen, a shower room and a covered terrace. The accommodation is heated and air-conditioned, according to the departmental tourist board, which makes it usable in winter as well as summer. A studio caravan completes the offer for small budgets.

The pitches, separated by hedges, take tents, caravans and motorhomes, with or without water and electricity. A multi-service point allows you to empty waste and fill up with water, a barbecue and a lounge with television are available, and a room can be used for meetings.

For water, the campsite has a swimming pool, to be booked in the warmer months. There is no restaurant or shop on site: plan your shopping in the neighbouring villages. Pets are allowed in the chalets and on the pitches, on a lead and never left alone.

🥾Hiking

Here, people come for the countryside. The private lake attracts anglers, the play area keeps children busy and the pétanque court brings adults together in the evening. The hosts provide board games, and the youngest can go and say hello to the estate’s geese. The very clear night sky is ideal for stargazing.

Around the campsite, several trails start on foot: the Del Blat al Molin circuit, the hills of Cambiac with their viewpoints over the Lauragais and the Pyrenees, or Lac de Sainte-Marie, less than 1.5 km away. The Château de Cambiac can be seen close by, and the village of Caraman is about a quarter of an hour by car.

For day trips, the Cité de l’espace is less than 30 km away, Toulouse and the Quai de la Daurade about thirty kilometres, and the fortified city of Carcassonne can be visited in a day. The Canal du Midi offers shaded banks, locks and villages to explore by bike or on foot, while the Revel market appeals to fans of local produce. Two neighbouring farms, the ferme du Roc, a foie gras duck farm five minutes away, and the ferme de Cabriole, let you discover the animals and local produce.
