Camping du Plan d’Eau de Vieure

La Borde campsite is on the Vieure lake leisure area (03430), in the Allier, in the heart of the Bocage bourbonnais. It is run by the community of communes and holds the Tourisme responsable et durable label. The lake covers about 33 hectares, with waymarked paths all around it.

The offer combines shaded pitches with electricity, from €10.20 a night, four-person cabins from €40, and cottages for two or for four to six people, from €70 and €90, including a version adapted for guests with reduced mobility. A group gîte with a dormitory, four-bed rooms and a 70 m² hall completes the site.

Opening period: the lake’s website does not publish dates for the campsite. It states that arrivals are from 4pm to 8pm in high season and by appointment outside it, with an on-call number reachable in all seasons, 07 64 76 12 93. Online guides, with older data, list pitches from April to early November and rentals all year round. Off-season opening remains to be confirmed with the campsite.

The rentals include a fitted kitchen, heating, television, terrace and garden furniture for the cottages, and the cabins have shared outdoor washrooms. A shared laundry, linen hire, baby equipment and a cleaning package are available as options. Pets are accepted. The site states that there is no wifi coverage on the campsite.

The Auberge de la Borde serves meals beside the lake, and food trucks come every weekend in summer. Small shops and the bakery are in Ygrande and Buxières-les-Mines.

On the lake you can rent canoes, pedalos, paddleboards and tricycles, and fishing for carp, pike and roach is well regarded there. Mountain bikes, with or without electric assistance, can be rented on site, and mountain bike routes and greenways start from the site.

There is also a ping-pong and volleyball area, an outdoor escape game called L’Autre Monde, and hiking trails in the Bocage bourbonnais. Swimming is free, but it only opens in the summer period.
