Plan d’Eau

Camping du Plan d’Eau stretches along the banks of the Garonne in Rieux-Volvestre, in Haute-Garonne, at 2 impasse du Plan d’Eau. From Toulouse, take the A64 motorway towards Tarbes and leave at junction 27 “Carbonne/Rieux”. Rated 3 stars, it welcomes families, groups, hikers and anglers.

The accommodation is varied: ten chalets, eleven mobile homes sleeping 4 to 7, four Coco Sweet tents without bathroom facilities for 2 to 4 people, and a three-hectare field for tents and caravans. The pitches have the necessary hook-ups and are marked out by rocks and hedges of mixed species. The two washroom blocks are heated, one of them accessible to people with reduced mobility. A Camping-Car Park motorhome area of twelve 70 m² pitches completes the site.

Opening period: the camping section, with pitches, mobile homes and Coco Sweet tents, welcomes guests from the start of the Easter school holidays until the end of the All Saints (Toussaint) holidays. The chalet area and the Camping-Car Park motorhome area, on the other hand, stay open all year round. The nine standard chalets and the comfort chalet, of 35 m² for 4 to 6 people, can therefore be rented all year round on reservation, with reversible air conditioning. Off-season, the campsite is well suited to a weekend, a fishing or hiking break, or a stopover in a motorhome.

The local setting adds to the appeal: Rieux cathedral, the Volvestre market and hiking trails are all close by.

The campsite offers simple, well-kept facilities. The two heated washroom blocks include showers and public toilets, with one block adapted for people with reduced mobility. A barbecue area is available to campers, wifi is accessible, and the sockets are European standard 10 amp: an adapter can be borrowed from reception against a deposit. The pitches are not suitable for twin-axle caravans and cannot be booked in advance; groups are asked to contact reception.

The 35 m² chalets have two bedrooms, a living room with a sofa bed, a bathroom, a separate toilet, a fitted kitchen and a 12 m² terrace. They are air-conditioned with a reversible system. One chalet is specially equipped for people with reduced mobility, and the comfort chalet adds a television and garden furniture. The mobile homes are equipped in the same way, with a semi-covered terrace and television.

The Camping-Car Park motorhome area offers large 70 m² pitches with water and electricity, a picnic table under an arbour with a barbecue, a service point and a waste-disposal area. The washrooms are used with the Pass’Étapes card. For swimming, the municipal pool is a few metres from reception, and access is free for guests in summer. On site, the campsite offers several free leisure facilities: a tennis court open to all, with equipment lent at reception, a petanque court, an outdoor bowling lane, a secure play area for children and a games room with table football and a reading corner. The Cercle nautique du Volvestre, a sailing and rowing club, is at the entrance to the site, on the bank of the Garonne.

The campsite is involved in several themed schemes: it has signed up to the hiker welcome charter and the Home Vélo standard, and holds the Accommodation Pêche label. The paths and country lanes of the Volvestre can therefore be explored on foot or by bike from the campsite, and fishing is possible on the river.

Around Rieux-Volvestre, you can visit the town’s cathedral, browse the Volvestre market for its local producers and specialities, discover the Gaulish village or try your hand at the wake park in Carbonne, a neighbouring town. A calendar of events is published on the campsite website. Off-season, a stay in one of the chalets open all year round is mostly about fishing, hiking, cycling and cultural visits.
