Les Herlequins occupies a family-run site in Saint-Usage (Côte-d’Or), at 7 chemin de la plage, alongside the Saône canal in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The site lies on the route to Santiago de Compostela and highlights the wide surrounding plain, the wildlife and the calm of the canal. Opposite the campsite, a small beach of gravel and sand lines the river.
Accommodation is split between pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, with a rate that includes up to 6 people and two vehicles per pitch, and a small rental fleet: six caravans for 2 to 4 people, two tiny houses (including one of 20 m² for 3 people) and one unit for 6 people. The tiny houses and several caravans have a kitchenette, a shower cubicle and wifi. The campsite does not mention an official star rating.
Here, year-round opening is a genuine promise: the campsite says it is open all year round, 7 days a week, and its 2025 price list distinguishes only between off-season (1 September to 30 June) and high season (July and August). Heated private washrooms, hot water, a heated restaurant-bar and a bread service are listed as available in every season. This formula suits pilgrims and passing cyclists as well as motorhome owners looking for a warm winter stopover.
Cosy evenings indoors (singing, cooking, games, local crafts), bike rides along the Saône and a stopover on the Camino de Santiago.
The restaurant-bar is the heart of the campsite: it serves morning, noon and evening, and is heated for chilly days. The menu is regional and affordable: snails, frogs’ legs, beef cheek bourguignon, eggs poached in red wine sauce, a whole baked camembert, fish and chips, skewers and burgers, with cheeses and homemade desserts. Expect to pay between €14.90 and €18.90 for a main dish, and €1.20 for an espresso.
The washrooms are in a dedicated building, with heated private showers and toilets and hot water. Free wifi covers the whole site thanks to two ground antennas. There is also a bread and pastry service, a coin-operated laundry (€4.50 per wash, €3.50 per dry) and free parking for cars.
For hire, electric bikes cost €5 a day with a deposit. The campsite also offers an electric boat for 5 people at €30 an hour and an 8-person boat at €80 a day, moored at the jetty. On the pitches, electricity costs €5, a shower with washroom access for a visitor who is not camping €2.50, and a pet €1.50. There is no swimming pool: here, the water is the Saône.
Caravans rent for €45 a night (2 or 3 people) or €55 (4 people), the tiny house for €60, with optional bed linen at €6 per bed and cleaning at €35.
Children have a play area with a slide, swings, a rocking seat and fitness equipment, a petanque court and a small football pitch with two goals. A jetty gives access to the water, and recreational fishing is possible just opposite the campsite.
The canal and the Saône can be explored on foot or by bike, on long walks along the water, with electric bikes for hire on site. The campsite also lies on one of the Camino de Santiago routes, making it a natural stopover for walkers. Electric boat trips on the river round off the offering.
Off-season, the campsite organises cosy evenings indoors: singing days, cooking around heated tables, games, crafts and regional products. The restaurant-bar stays open every day, making the dining room a meeting place when evenings turn cool. The published information gives no precise dates for these events: ask at reception.
