The Domaine du Bugnon is in Les Thévenins, in the commune of Lac-des-Rouges-Truites, in the Haut-Jura, in the heart of the Regional Nature Park. It occupies a 2.5-hectare site surrounded by pines, at a stated altitude of 950 to 1,000 m, with Lac des Rouges-Truites 800 m away and the Les Rousses slopes about fifteen minutes away by car. The Tissot family took over the estate in 2023.
The campsite, rated 2 stars, has 28 shaded pitches, including two trapper tents for rent. The estate also offers three wooden cottages with three bedrooms, eleven rooms in a large chalet above the restaurant, a yurt and a geodesic dome. Only the campsite is covered by the rating.
Opening period: the campsite and the unusual accommodation only operate from late April to late September. The cottages and rooms, however, showed rates for 2026 from 10 or 11 January to 8 March, then from late March to 30 September. No rate is published from 1 October to early January, and the dates for winter 2026-2027 have not yet been announced: the estate appears to be closed for about three months in autumn. For a winter stay, you therefore need to confirm by calling 03 84 60 20 21.
The restaurant, La Table du Bugnon, welcomes guests from Wednesday to Sunday evening, with fondue, raclette, morbiflette and fire tables.
The reception chalet brings together a restaurant of around thirty covers with a terrace, a bar, a room with billiards, table football, board games and a library, and a sauna that can be booked by the hour. Breakfast is served on reservation the day before by 6pm, and a picnic can be prepared from €12 per person. A bread depot operates every day in summer, and tourist information is available.
For the campsite, the washroom block has two sections with showers, toilets and washbasins, including a shower and toilets accessible to guests with reduced mobility. It is not heated. Dishwashing sinks, a laundry point and a grey water outlet are provided at the back. Each pitch has a 10 A socket and a trolley is available to carry luggage.
Vehicles stay in a neighbouring car park. Wi-Fi is free in the restaurant, but deliberately unavailable in the camping area. The cottages have an equipped kitchenette, Wi-Fi and a television, and pets are accepted there.
On site, the estate offers two free tennis courts on reservation for residents, a trampoline and a home-ball game in summer, a table tennis table, a volleyball net, badminton and a play area. The activity room adds billiards and table football for the evenings.
In winter, the estate rents cross-country skis (classic or skating), snowshoes and sledges, for a minimum of one day, and the commune marks out trails every year that start from the estate. Snowshoe or sleigh rides, sledging and skiing are mentioned for the cold season, followed by a raclette or fondue evening.
In spring and summer, hiking, mountain biking, horse or donkey rides, swimming, treetop adventure and via ferrata are mentioned. The website cites the Hérisson waterfalls, the Pic de l’Aigle, the Comté cheese dairies and the areas around Champagnole, Les Rousses and Morbier for outings. A stopover package for cyclists and hikers combines a night in a tent or room, a pizza and breakfast.
Campsite and unusual accommodation from 29 April to 29 September 2026; cottages and rooms offered in 2026 from 11 January to 8 March, then from late March to 30 September; no dates announced from October to early January, winter 2026-2027 to be confirmed.
