Les Dauphins

Les Dauphins is a 4-star residential campsite on Allée des Dunes in Montmartin-sur-Mer, on the Côte des Havres, in the Manche department. The beach is about 200 m away on foot. Coutances is about fifteen minutes away, Granville half an hour, and Mont-Saint-Michel a little over an hour by road according to the pages of the website.

The site has 184 plots and shares its name and management team with a second, neighbouring campsite, La Sirène. Its main purpose is residential: visitors rent a plot on which to install, or buy, their own mobile home. A fleet of mobile homes for 2 to 8 people is nevertheless available to rent by the week, with terrace, barbecue and a storage hut for bikes.

Opening period: the campsite describes itself as “open and guarded all year round”, a phrase aimed above all at residents and mobile home owners. For passing holidaymakers, the website does publish “low season” rates (from €380 a week), but with no opening or closing dates for rentals. Whether tourists are welcomed in winter should therefore be confirmed with the campsite before booking, on 02 33 91 70 20.

The campsite has a heated outdoor swimming pool, supervised in high season by lifeguards holding the BNSSA certificate. A large water slide, installed at La Sirène, is open to guests of Les Dauphins. Special chairs make it easier for people with reduced mobility to get into the water, and the rental accommodation and washrooms are described as accessible.

An indoor wellness area, with a six-seat jacuzzi and a sauna, is reserved for residents and renters of the two campsites; there is a charge for its use and, according to the website, it operates in summer and winter alike. Beauty treatments can be booked on request.

The mobile homes for rent are insulated and equipped with a full kitchenette (fridge-freezer, microwave, oven, gas hob), a bathroom with a large shower, separate WC, a living room, electric radiators, air conditioning and television. Wifi is free. Outside rentals, the campsite also offers owners a professional winter storage service for mobile homes. A playground, a pétanque court and a volleyball court round off the facilities; the pool and its activities are mainly a high-season feature.

In summer, qualified activity leaders run three sessions a day at 10:00am, 2:30pm and 6:30pm: crafts, board games and beach games for ages 6 to 11, treasure hunts and sports games for ages 11 to 16, with no compulsory registration. In the evening, themed nights bring families together for karaoke or a dance. In the pool, aqua aerobics and water polo are offered in high season, and shows complete the programme.

Around the campsite, the beach 200 m away is suited to swimming, shore fishing and walks along the coast. The website also mentions water sports, cycling and hiking in the Norman hinterland. Day trips range from Granville to Mont-Saint-Michel, taking in the Chausey Islands and the more distant D-Day beaches. The website also mentions Saint-Malo, Jersey and Guernsey. In low season, most of the campsite’s activities need to be confirmed with the team.
