Founded in 1968, Les 3 Pucelles campsite is in Seyssins, on the edge of Grenoble, at an altitude of 250 m at the foot of the Vercors massif, whose three peaks give it its name. It remains a family business: three generations have run it, and the team includes three employees present all year round. Central Grenoble is about 15 minutes away by tram, with the Mas des Îles stop (line C) 4 minutes’ walk away.
The site is modest in size: 61 places in total, made up of 41 pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes, with 16 A hook-ups, and 20 air-conditioned mobile homes for 1 to 6 people, including one model adapted for people with reduced mobility. Nearby there are shops, a boules pitch, a stadium, a golf course and cycle paths. It is quiet at night despite the proximity of the city.
As for opening, the campsite says it welcomes guests all year round: motorhomes and caravans are admitted on pitches in every season, and mobile homes can be rented from two nights in the off-season. Only tent pitches are limited to the period from April to October. The washrooms are heated in winter and the bar is open every day of the year.
Off-season, the offer is also aimed at businesses: the campsite provides quotes for long-term work stays, alongside holidaymakers passing through.
Polesud ice rink, museums, Bastille and covered play parks in Grenoble; V63 and V64 greenways by bike.
The washrooms, accessible all year and heated in winter, have 8 shower and washbasin cubicles, 7 toilets, 9 dishwashing sinks and 2 laundry sinks. A connected wristband, handed out at reception, measures the time and number of showers in order to raise awareness of water consumption. A paid laundry room provides 6 kg and 11 kg washing machines and an 11 kg tumble dryer, with tokens sold at reception. Wi-Fi is free across almost the entire site.
The mobile homes have a fitted kitchen (gas hob, microwave, coffee maker, crockery), a living area with television, a bathroom with shower and a covered terrace. The reversible air conditioning works in summer and winter alike. Household linen is not provided: a full kit is available to rent for €20, with the bed made on arrival. The nightly rate includes water, gas and electricity up to a daily cap, beyond which the kilowatt-hour is charged.
The bar, which holds a class IV licence, serves hot and cold drinks on its terrace every day of the year. Two unheated outdoor pools, one for adults and one for children, open from mid-June to mid-September, unsupervised. For children, a playground with swings, a slide and a climbing frame is set up near the pool. Table football, table tennis and billiards complete the offer. Pets on a lead are accepted.
On site, people gather around the table football, the table tennis table and the billiard table next to the bar, or on the playground designed for children aged 1 to 12. In summer, the two pools take up most of the day. The neighbouring boules pitch, stadium and golf course are accessible from the neighbourhood.
The campsite is on the V63 and V64 greenway network: the first follows the Isère valley from Grenoble to Saint-Marcellin, the second links Veurey-Voroize to Séchilienne along the Isère and then the Drac, with rest areas equipped with benches and water points. The campsite’s website also lists hikes, as well as brochures on Sassenage, Le Sappey-en-Chartreuse and the Grenoble metropolitan area.
In Grenoble, the cable car goes up to the Bastille, and the Grenoble museum, the little tourist train and France’s only urban via ferrata can be visited or tried in a day. The Cuves de Sassenage caves, the Saint-Hilaire funicular, the Chartreuse cellars, the château de Vizille or postman Cheval’s Palais idéal are further away. Sporty visitors will find climbing, paragliding, canyoning and caving, and the Polesud ice rink welcomes skaters. For children: AcroBastille, a trampoline park and covered, heated play park in Saint-Martin-le-Vinoux, useful in bad weather, but also the Domaine des Fauves zoo, the Chartreuse treetop adventure course and the Walibi park.
