Camping L’île du Roi stretches along the left bank of the Seine, on the chemin de Médan, in Triel-sur-Seine, in the Yvelines. Paris is less than thirty minutes away by car, and the station can be reached in twenty minutes on foot or by bike along the river. Shops are about a kilometre away. Rated two stars, the site states a capacity of 200 people and is one of the campsites with the Vacaf label.
The grounds have about 140 shaded pitches for tents and caravans, along with chalets, mobile homes, caravans for rent, a small house on the banks of the Seine and apartments or studios. The website states that the site is fenced, with access controlled by an individual badge. French, English, Portuguese and Spanish are spoken.
Welcoming visitors is not limited to summer: the campsite says it receives guests all year round, for tourist and business stays alike, and a second regional tourism site confirms year-round opening. Plots can be rented by the month, and rates for business trips, monthly stays or Vacaf stays are given on request. Out of season, the place therefore suits employees on assignment as much as weekend breaks near Paris.
The setting blends nature with proximity to the capital: riverbanks, a landing stage, a guinguette, and a coworking space for those who need to keep working on site.
Walks and jogging along the banks of the Seine, coworking on weekdays, visit to Versailles and Émile Zola's house in Médan.
The campsite brings together several services useful for a working stay as well as for a holiday. The washrooms adapted for people with reduced mobility are heated, and a launderette is available. Reception is connected to a snack bar that sells ice creams, cold drinks and takeaway meals. A little further on, a waterside guinguette offers meals and evenings with live music; according to a departmental tourism site, it is open in the evening from Wednesday to Saturday and at lunchtime at weekends. Its landing stage is accessible to pleasure boats.
The coworking space is open on weekdays from 8:30am to 6pm. A day costs 15 euros per person, with a monthly subscription available on request. It provides unlimited wifi, heating, air conditioning, coffee and tea, as well as private parking and a screen as an option. A heated common room is also mentioned.
As for accommodation, units can be booked online, with a 30% deposit and the balance 30 days before arrival, and a deposit held on arrival. There is no swimming pool on site: the water here is the Seine, and a water sports leisure centre is nearby. Pets are allowed under certain conditions. The website mentions no service reserved for summer, and it publishes no dates specific to the guinguette.
The campsite is all about life on the river. Kayaks and paddleboards can be rented on site to glide along the Seine, fishing is done from the banks, and a path along the Seine is used for jogging as well as cycling. On site, there is a boules court, a table tennis table, bouncy castles for the little ones and a children’s play area.
The site also lists nearby activities: bowling, tree climbing, golf and an outlet shopping centre, without giving distances. The Palace of Versailles and Émile Zola’s house in Médan are among the suggested visits. The guinguette organises themed evenings with concerts, karaoke and DJs, especially at weekends.
Off-season, the entertainment is quieter: walking or running along the river, a trip to Versailles or the neighbouring villages, an evening at the guinguette, or a working day in the coworking space followed by a walk at sunset.
Open all year round for tourist and business stays (rentals, pitches and plots by the month).
