The municipal campsite of Orelle is located in the main part of the village, in Orelle (73140), in Savoie, in the Maurienne valley. The site is small: seventeen pitches with an electrical hook-up, accommodating tents, caravans and motorhomes, with heated washrooms. A shared cabin has a table, chairs, tourist leaflets, a kettle and a shared fridge, and a rack is available for parking bikes.
Orelle is the starting point of the gondola lift that climbs to Val Thorens and the Trois Vallées ski area. In summer the place is mostly quiet and serves as a base for cyclists aiming for the great Tour de France passes.
Opening period: the Orelle tourist office presents the campsite as open all year round, every day. A specific winter-season rate is published, with pitch, electricity and washrooms included, as well as monthly rates for construction site workers. Booking is compulsory; it is made through the tourist office on 04 79 56 87 22.
Skiing in the Orelle-Val Thorens ski area, announced from 21 November 2026 to 2 May 2027, with a free shuttle to the gondola lift.
Each pitch has electricity and the washrooms are heated, which matters in the mountains in winter. A Flot Bleu service point allows motorhomes to empty their waste water and refill with fresh water, for an extra charge. Pets are accepted. Payment is by cheque, bank card, cash or holiday vouchers (chèques-vacances).
About seven hundred metres away, the HOB Orelle bar-restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offers a full-board option. Off-season, no shop is open in the village: you need to shop in Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne, six kilometres away, or in Modane, ten kilometres away. The campsite has no swimming pool; the nearest is about six kilometres away.
A few metres from the campsite, a multi-sport court and a pétanque court are freely accessible. In the surrounding area, the tourist office lists hiking, mountain biking, tennis, fishing, climbing and via ferrata. In summer, the village is a starting point for tackling the legendary Tour de France passes by bike.
In winter, a free shuttle links the campsite to the Orelle gondola lift, which gives access to the Val Thorens and Trois Vallées ski area. The opening of the Orelle-Val Thorens ski area is announced from 21 November 2026 to 2 May 2027.
