Seasonal campsite: our checks show it closes for several months a year. Check the opening dates before booking.
The L’Oraille nature campsite is in L’Étang-Bertrand, in the Manche department, in the middle of the Cotentin peninsula. The site has 25 pitches set under apple trees, in a family-friendly, countryside atmosphere, and pets are welcome. The beaches and the sea are within about 25 km, as are Cherbourg, Barfleur, the Biville dunes and the Nez de Jobourg.
The campsite offers pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes. The announced facilities include 5 showers, 4 toilets, 2 washrooms, 3 dishwashing sinks, picnic tables, a barbecue, a motorhome service point and 6-amp electricity. For accommodation, the owners rent a vintage caravan for two people (€150 per week) and a bohemian wooden caravan (€50 per night, bed linen provided). A gîte for 4 people is also rented separately, at €60 per night for two or €420 per week.
Opening period: the nature campsite is announced as open from 1 May to 30 September. It is therefore closed in winter. The website does not mention welcoming campers outside this period; for any question about the gîte or an off-season stay, you need to contact the owners directly on +33 7 83 08 25 29.
Campsite rates are modest: €3.50 per adult, €2.50 per child aged 2 to 16, €3 for a tent or caravan, €4 for a motorhome and €3.50 for electricity, excluding tourist tax. In July and August, a fresh bread delivery is offered.
The services are those of a nature campsite: a washroom block with 5 showers, 4 toilets, 2 washrooms and 3 dishwashing sinks, picnic tables, a barbecue and a disposal point for motorhome waste water. 6-amp electricity is available for €3.50. In July and August, fresh bread can be delivered to the campsite. The neighbouring gîte has free wifi.
The campsite does not announce any entertainment on site. The website instead invites visitors to explore the Cotentin on foot, by bike or on horseback and provides them with route guides and maps. Around the site, Bricquebec and its keep are 6 km away, Valognes 9 km, Cherbourg and the Cité de la Mer 25 km, Sainte-Mère-Église 25 km, Barfleur 30 km and Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue 35 km. Mont-Saint-Michel is less than 100 km away.
From 1 May to 30 September (campsite announcement, to be confirmed with the owners).
