Overview

Camping Le Parc is located at 15 route de Laval, in Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne, in the Mayenne department, on the edge of the town centre. Rated three stars, it occupies a fenced two-hectare site planted with tall pines, running alongside the River Mayenne. The site has 38 shaded pitches of 100 m², two bivouac tents for hire for hikers and cyclists, and twelve 35 m² chalets sleeping four to six people, one of them adapted for guests with disabilities.

The address is also a stopover on the Vélo Francette, the cycle route linking Normandy to the Atlantic: the campsite holds the Home Vélo label, offers a packed breakfast kit and a small emergency shop, and accepts late arrivals on request. The Mayenne towpath is on the opposite bank, 1.3 km away, and the marina is 800 metres away.

Opening period: the campsite announces a welcome all year round, for pitches and chalets alike. A rule does apply in winter, however: no tents from 1 October to 31 March, and only heated, fitted-out vehicles may stay on the pitches between November and March. Twin-axle caravans are refused all year round. Off-season, reception is open Monday to Saturday, and the washroom block is heated.

An off-season stay is therefore best suited to motorhome travellers, cyclists renting a chalet and visitors passing through the south of the Mayenne.

Activities & entertainment

🎣Fishing
🏐Volleyball
🥾Hiking

On site, a full playground awaits children, and the campsite organises entertainment in July and August. Volleyball and fishing are among the activities mentioned, with fishing spots along the Mayenne in the immediate vicinity.

The river shapes the outings. The towpath, on the opposite bank 1.3 km away, can be explored on foot or by bike and leads towards Laval upstream or Angers downstream, as part of the Vélo Francette. At the marina, 800 metres away, a rental company offers canoes and bikes. The campsite also highlights the community swimming pool, free for its guests, for hot days.

The Pays de Château-Gontier, labelled Plus Beaux Détours de France, invites visitors to stroll through a flower-filled town with narrow lanes and historic monuments. Tourist sites in the south of the Mayenne, from places to visit to events, are gathered on the local tourist office website, and the campsite keeps a calendar of nearby events.

Outside summer, waterside walks and cycling stages remain possible, as the campsite stays open all year round.
